Morris Laing’s employment attorneys assist employers and individuals on a national basis in meeting and responding to workplace challenges. Our attorneys have dedicated their practice to the area of employment law and have the resources to respond to the needs faced by both employers and individuals. With an experienced employment law practice, Morris Laing offers the full range of employment law services to all sizes of businesses, whether small local companies or large multi-state companies. Our employment and labor relations attorneys are thoroughly versed in the following areas:
Employment Litigation
We represent employers in class and individual employment litigation and regularly achieve defense judgments for employers. We also assist employers in the enforcement of employment agreements and covenants not to compete through appropriate injunctive relief. Our services include the representation of individuals in protected status claims in which we have achieved just resolutions. In addition, we represent clients in alternative dispute resolution processes, arbitrations, and due process hearings. We regularly assist clients in responding to charges and complaints filed with a broad range of administrative agencies, such as State Human Rights Commission, EEOC, OSHA, and Department of Labor.
Employment Law Counseling and Training
We conduct compliance audits and management training on regulated workplace Dos and Don’ts, including topics such as sexual harassment, employment discrimination, disability accommodation, union management relations, and disciplining and terminating employees. We work with employers to develop affirmative action plans, employee handbooks, and personnel policies. We also advise employers concerning employment laws affecting the acquisition, sale, closure, or relocation of facilities and the enforcement of employment agreements and covenants not to compete.
We take a long-term view in representing our clients’ interests. We work with clients to ensure that they have the most effective workplace policies and to solve their employment problems quickly and cost effectively.
