Kansas Oil & Gas Taxes: Minimizing the Burden

This seminar will explore the complex array of state and locally assessed taxes that impact the Kansas oil and gas industry. The focus will be identifying opportunities for avoiding and minimizing your tax burden in all aspects of the business cycle through targeted exemption applications as well as state and local level equalization and protest appeals. Specific discussion topics will include sales/use tax exemptions for exploration, drilling, and operational outlays; severance tax and ad valorem property tax assessments and exemptions; classification and assessment of lease equipment; and appraisal standards and guidelines for estimating fair market value of mineral assets.
