Body Language in the Workplace

Hear from special guest, Dr. Rachel Messer, Assistant Professor of Psychology at Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas, who specializes in language and cognition. She has studied nonverbals and body language and how these types of language develop across the lifespan.

Among other related topics, her presentation will cover “reading” nonverbals in professional settings, such as during hiring; how personal characteristics such as age, culture, and gender can affect body language use; and some common body language “red flags” that might warrant further consideration by hiring professionals. Examples to illustrate body language will be shown, and discussion/Q&A will be encouraged.
