Morris Laing Wichita attorneys Ryan Peck and Will Wohlford successfully defended a beef slaughterhouse against nuisance claims by 14 plaintiffs who live in a neighborhood adjacent to the slaughterhouse. The plaintiffs alleged that the operation of the slaughterhouse creates a stench that substantially and unreasonably interferes with the use and enjoyment of their property. The plaintiffs sought damages in excess of $500,000. The Sedgwick County, Kansas jury returned a defense verdict after deliberating for approximately one hour. Judge Christopher Magana presided over the week-long trial.
