  • Estate, Probate & Trust Administration

From the date of the firm’s founding in 1945, Morris Laing has provided knowledgeable advice and assistance to its clients in the administration of trusts and probate estates. Our experience allows us to administer a small probate estate in a cost-efficient manner. It also provides us with the knowledge to handle multi-million-dollar trusts and estates, including those involved in oil and gas exploration, cattle production, manufacturing, and product distribution.

Our knowledge of both estate and income tax law often makes it possible to accomplish significant tax savings for our clients by taking advantage of available post-mortem tax elections.

At the same time, our attorneys never forget the importance of the human aspect of estate and trust administrations, and provide conscientious, considerate attention at a time that is often difficult for our clients. Our estate attorneys are also experienced in guardianship and conservatorship proceedings.

  • Estate & Trust Litigation

As the population in the United States ages, issues regarding estate planning and disposition of estate assets have become an area of increased litigation.  Morris Laing attorneys have been involved in disputes regarding preparation and modification of wills and trusts, the administration of estates and the disposition of estate assets.  Members of the firm have written articles on will disputes, spoken at seminars on probate litigation and appeared as experts in court in probate proceedings on issues regarding disputed wills and trusts.

Whether the issue involves the question of competency for document preparation or undue influence, attorneys at Morris Laing use a team approach to analyze and attack the issues and to ensure that our clients obtain the best advice and most zealous representation available.  Our estate planning and litigation team members work together to protect estate plans, to advocate that the intent of the estate plan be upheld and to protect our clients’ positions.
