We are proud to share the exciting news that Grant Brazill, a partner in our Wichita office, has been appointed by Governor Laura Kelly to serve as a District Court Judge in the 18th Judicial District. This appointment fills the vacancy created by the passing of the Honorable Bruce Brown.

Governor Kelly noted that “Grant Brazill brings robust legal experience as a child welfare practitioner to the bench” and highlighted his dedication to the rights and well-being of children and families—experience and values that will serve the 18th Judicial District exceptionally well.

Grant has been an invaluable member of Morris Laing, known not only for his deep legal knowledge but also for his unwavering commitment to the community. His leadership extends beyond the firm through his service on the Kansas Supreme Court Task Force on Permanency Planning and his role as Chairperson of the Wichita Bar Association Juvenile Law Committee.

In accepting this honor, Grant shared: “I am honored by this appointment and am committed to serving the people of Sedgwick County by ensuring that every individual who comes before the Court is treated with dignity, respect, and impartiality.”

While we will greatly miss Grant as a colleague, we are immensely proud of this well-deserved achievement. His dedication, integrity, and compassion will make a lasting impact from the bench.
