Robert AndersonAfter more than four decades of dedicated service, Robert K. Anderson is officially retired from Morris Laing. Bob began his career with the firm in May of 1984, and over the next 41 years, he became a trusted advisor to clients, a generous mentor to colleagues, and a respected leader in the legal community.

Bob’s path to the law began with a passion for numbers. Inspired by his father, a CPA, he pursued an accounting degree at Kansas State University. It was during those years that his father encouraged him to take his skills a step further and attend law school, setting him on a course toward a career in tax and estate planning.

When asked what he’s most proud of professionally, Bob doesn’t point to a case or a title—he points to people. “My relationships with clients,” he said. “I tried very hard to take a personal interest in every client’s situation, and to always do what I thought was in their best interests.” That personal touch has left a lasting mark on generations of clients and colleagues alike.

To young attorneys just starting out, Bob offers simple but powerful advice: Be humble. Don’t be afraid to say you don’t know the answer—but be sure to find it. And to those still practicing at Morris Laing, he has only words of encouragement: “Keep up the good work! You are all very talented people.”

Bob says he’ll miss the camaraderie most. “My colleagues at the office—such a fantastic group of people to work with!” While it’s hard to choose just one favorite memory, he carries with him a deep appreciation for the many good times shared at the firm.

As for what’s next? Bob is taking retirement one day at a time. He’s looking forward to spending more time outdoors, tackling projects like building an outdoor fireplace, and hitting the road in his cherished 1929 Model A Tudor Sedan—the same car his mother once drove to high school. He’s also excited to explore new interests and broaden his horizons.

Summing up his career, Bob shared: “I’ve enjoyed getting to know so many different people and helping them with their legal needs.” His calm presence, thoughtful counsel, and unwavering integrity have left an indelible legacy at Morris Laing.

To his clients and colleagues, Robert simply says: “It was great working with you, and I wish you all the best!!!!”
